United Way Youth Engagement programs offer high school students opportunities to volunteer, lead, and advocate in their communities. With hundreds of local branches across the U.S., United Way helps youth develop leadership skills while addressing issues like education, financial stability, and health.
General Information
Volunteer in your local community to empower youth. These programs involve packing school supplies, tutoring younger students, and cleaning community parks. Join a local youth leadership council to have a more prominent role. Run or support drives for books, food, hygiene kits, etc.
Eligibility
Participants must be between the ages of 13-18. Must be willing to travel to the closest United Way chapter. No experience is required to participate in any events. Parental consent is required for all participants under the age of 18. Must be willing to commit to the program; one-year or one time.

First, visit the website for the program using this link. Then search by zip code to find the chapter closest to you. Then go to "Volunteer", "Youth Engagement", or "Get Involved" section. Then apply to a volunteer program, council, or a one time event. Some programs include Youth United or Student United Way.
