Putney Student Travel

Putney Student Travel is a program that immerses students in abroad programs for community service, cultural immersion, and personal growth. During the trip, each student develops a personal project whether it be organizing a sports event or creating a photo album. Locations include Africa: Tanzania, Asia & South Pacific: Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Fiji, Central & South America: Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Caribbean: Dominica, British Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, Europe: Spain, Greece.

General Information

Travel to other countries and work on community identified projects such as renovating schools or building houses. Live with a host community and stay simple lodges or homesteads. Expect local explorations such as surfing in Costa Rica or snorkeling in the Galápagos. Costs start with an up-front payment of $700 dollars to register for the program once accepted. The total tuition is $4,500 to $9,000 depending on the location and length of the trip. 

Eligibility

Participants must be 14-18 at the time of the program. No second language is required, even for international programs. Must be in good academic and behavioral standing at school. Must be in good physical and mental health. Must be willing to live in close quarters and respect diverse cultures.

Application Process

Visit the website through this link and choose a program to apply to. Click "Apply" or "Start Your Application" on the program page. Fill out the application and pay the $200 application fee. Rolling admissions—decisions expected to come back in a few days to a week.
