
Best Friends Animal Society
Best Friends Animal Society is a national nonprofit dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in shelters by running the country’s largest no-kill sanctuary and partnering with shelters across the U.S. Volunteers—both in-person and virtual—can help care for animals, assist with adoptions, support events, or foster pets, making a direct impact on animal welfare.
General Information
Volunteer either online or in-person at a regional site such as Atlanta, LA, or Salt Lake City. Do various jobs such as assisting with dog outings, caring for animals at foster homes, and helping fundraising walks. For virtual volunteering, you can support animal welfare advocacy and livestream support roles.
Eligibility
Different roles require different ages and/or adult supervision usually for minors. Roles are either 12+, 14+, 16+, or 18+ years old. Sanctuary landscaping requires 14+ with adult supervision. Cat popularity requires 12+ with adult accompaniment recommended. Dog walking requires 16+.
Application Process
Visit the regional BFAS site using this link. Then, create a volunteer profile on the volunteer website. Complete orientation and training modules that include either virtual or in-person sessions.
