University of Michigan – BioMed High School Research Program

The BioMed Focus program is a paid, full-time, 8-week summer research internship hosted by the University of Michigan Medical School. It provides high school students with hands-on experience in biomedical research by working in laboratories at Michigan Medicine. Participants engage in independent research projects, culminating in a final research symposium.
Eligibility and Application Information
The program is open to rising juniors and seniors who are interested in biology and/or biomedical science. No prior research experience or specific GPA is required. The application process includes an interest survey, which for BioMed Focus 2025 was open from October 15 to January 10. The interest form for BioMed Focus 2026 will open in October 2025
Pay
Participants receive a $4,000 stipend for their full-time involvement in the program. This stipend is intended to support students during their 8-week research experience.
