NASA STEM Enhancement in Earth Science Internship

The NASA SEES Internship is a 7-week hybrid summer program for high school students that combines remote research with a 2-week on-site experience at UT Austin. Interns work with NASA scientists on Earth and space science projects using real satellite data. The program includes hands-on fieldwork, team research, and a final presentation at a virtual symposium
Eligibility and Application Information
Applicants must be U.S. high school sophomores or juniors, at least 16 years old by July, and U.S. citizens. The application, due in February, requires essays, a short video, and a recommendation letter. Selection is competitive, and students must complete online modules before attending the in-person portion.
Pay
SEES is unpaid, but the on-site portion is fully funded, including housing, meals, and local transportation. Travel scholarships are available for students with financial need. Participants are only responsible for personal expenses.

SEES is a highly prestigious and selective program, with an acceptance rate around 5%. Alumni frequently present at national conferences and have earned honors like the Regeneron STS. The program is widely recognized by colleges for its rigorous research and NASA affiliation.
