Georgia Tech Research Institute

This is a five-week paid summer internship for Georgia high school students held at GTRI labs across Atlanta and the GTRI Warner Robins field office, running from early June to mid-July. Interns work up to 24 hours per week on real-world STEM projects like robotics, drones, radar systems, piezoelectric tiles, and sensor fusion, and wrap up with a final presentation of their work.
Eligibility and Application Information
To be eligible, students must be Georgia residents, enrolled in high school, at least 16 years old by March 31, able to commute daily, and eligible to work legally in the U.S. A pre-application opens in January, followed by mentor-conducted interviews for placement, with notifications rolling out after applicants are matched to projects. Reliable transport, attendance at orientation and final presentations, and in-person participation are required.
Pay
Interns receive hourly pay (typically around $15–$20/hr based on Georgia Tech student wage scales) for up to 24 hours/week over the five-week period. The program is fully paid, but does not provide housing or transportation, so students must arrange local commute and living costs. Wages are processed bi-weekly through Georgia Tech payroll
