Clark Scholars Program

The Anson L. Clark Scholars Program is a 7-week summer research internship held at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. It offers 12 high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to engage in hands-on research across various disciplines, including biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, and history. The program includes faculty mentorship, weekly seminars, and field trips to enhance the research experience.

Eligibility and Application Information

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, at least 17 years old by the program start date. The application requires an online form, short essays, high school transcripts, standardized test scores (PSAT, SAT, or ACT), and three recommendations—two from teachers and one from another mentor. The application deadline is February 24, 2025, and decisions are typically announced by early May.

Pay

There are no program fees, and participants receive on-campus room and board, meals, and weekend activities. A $25 application fee is required, and participants are responsible for travel, personal, and medical expenses. Upon successful completion of the program, scholars receive a $750 stipend.

Prestige

The Clark Scholars Program is highly competitive, with an acceptance rate of approximately 5%, selecting only 12 students annually. It provides an immersive research experience that is a valuable addition to college applications. Alumni often pursue advanced studies and careers in their research fields, reflecting the program's strong reputation.
