General Information
This is a 6-week program hosted at MIT that offers a unique educational experience to its participants. It offers a rare blend of university‑level STEM lectures (led by MIT faculty and Nobel laureates) in the first week and an extended independent research project under the mentorship of scientists from MIT, Harvard, and local labs for the next five weeks .

Eligibility
RSI is open to high school juniors (rising seniors) who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, particularly in math and science. Competitive applicants typically show a demonstrated passion for STEM research.

Application Process
To apply for RSI, students submit an online application including transcripts, standardized test scores, essays about their STEM goals, and 2–3 recommendation letters from teachers or mentors. The application deadline for U.S. students is usually in mid-January, while international applicants have a slightly later deadline. The selection process is highly competitive.
