MITES - MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science

General Information
This is a highly selective 6-week residential program at MIT for students with a strong interest in STEM. This program immerses students in real STEM research and college level academics. Classes span from 9AM - 5PM with homework, labs, recitations, and homework support. Different electives to choose from. Ends with a final presentation where students present projects to peers and faculty.

Eligibility
All students must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents. Also, must be a high school junior. Recommend for students to have a strong STEM background with an interest in science and engineering.

Application Process
The application opens in November with deadlines for the student on February 1. The application requires an academic transcript from grades 9-11, short answer essays, and three letters of recommendation coming from math/science teacher, humanities teacher, and counselor. These letters of recommendation are due on February 15.

Impact & Recognition
Since this program is highly competitive and prestigious with a 1.5% acceptance rate, participants credit the program with growth in confidence, academic skills, and college preparedness. About 30% of the alumni of this program attend MIT with many others attending top universities. This program can be highly valuable to college applications and stand participants out from the rest of applicants.
