General Information

This 5–6‑week full‑time, in-person research program places high school students in active science or engineering labs at Princeton University, working Monday through Friday. Students join ongoing faculty-led projects, complete lab safety training, and produce a final research summary. Housing, transportation, and meals are not provided, so participants must live locally and arrange their own commute.

02

Eligibility

Applicants must be at least 16 years old by June 15 and currently enrolled in a U.S. high school (including international students attending U.S. schools). Participants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or U.S.-based international students, and able to commute to campus daily. Although open nationwide, the program favors those who can live locally during the internship .

03

Application Process

Applications open February 15 and close March 15, submitted online with a single form allowing choice of up to two lab opportunities. Applicants provide GPA, referee contact, and 250‑word responses on STEM interests; acceptances are offered on a rolling basis by April 30. No interviews are required, and selected students must submit parental consent and proof of local housing/transportation before starting.

04

Impact & Recognition

The program is highly selective and prestigious, accepting roughly 6% of around 700+ applicants into a cohort of ~40 interns. Students gain hands-on experience in top-tier research labs, enhancing critical skills and making the program a powerful addition to college and resume portfolios.
