General Information

This is a 2-week virtual program designed to give underrepresented girls the ability to learn coding skills. This program offers beginner to intermediate training in various coding groups. Classes run Monday to Friday with 2-3 hours of daily classes and activities, plus independent project work and optional student hours. This program is designed for girls with little to no coding experience and do not have access to CS classes in school.

Eligibility

Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of the program. Applicants must identify as female, including girls, trans women, non-binary or gender nonconforming individuals, wanting to be part of a female-identified space. U.S. applicants must be high school students, and international applicants must be ages 14-18. Must not have taken AP or IB classes on CS.

Application Process

The application is online. Use the SurveyMonkey Apply portal to create an account and register for the 2025 Summer Programs application. Select the Summer Immersion Program (SIP)—you can also indicate interest in the Pathways option. No essays, transcripts, or recommendation letters required—just basic personal info and one short-answer question. The early deadline is February 28, and the regular deadline is April 16.

Impact & Recognition

About 90%+ of alumni say they plan to major or minor in computer science or a related field after attending SIP. Many participants go on to college-level CS programs, internships, and eventually roles in major tech companies like Google, Meta, and Apple. SIP connects students with female engineers and tech professionals from companies like Accenture, Bank of America, AT&T, and Adobe.
