General Information

This is a 4-week residential program held in Georgia Southern University. Students focus intensely on a single major subject area—ranging from STEM, languages, arts, communications, theatre, engineering, social sciences, and more—or pursue a minor in another field. Classes are supplemented by evening programs, seminars, and activities that foster creativity and intellectual exploration.

02

Eligibility

Applicants must be rising junior or senior at the time of the program. You may only attend the program once. You must attend a public, private, charter, or home school under Georgia guidelines. Nominees must show exceptional interest and skill in their chosen subject.

03

Application Process

First, you must be nominated by your school or district and this usually happens between August and November. You can usually ask to be nominated by a teacher of the discipline you want to pursue in the program. Then, you must submit an online application by January 10 that includes a teacher recommendation and an official school transcript. Then there is a semifinalist audition day, where selected students attend a day event with interviews.

04

Impact & Recognition

This program is known as Georgia’s top honors program for gifted teens since 1964. Rigor and competition are recognized by college admissions, particularly in Georgia, as equivalent to achieving elite academic distinction. Offers deep subject immersion, leadership, and peer networking in a selective intellectual community.
