General Information

This is a 1-week residential program at Dartmouth. This program focuses on cybersecurity and privacy fundamentals. Topics covered include system vulnerabilities, cyber-defense techniques, digital forensics, Linux basics, network security, intrusion detection, web application threats, and policy ethics. Each participant designs and completes an outreach project to spread cybersecurity awareness in their community.

Eligibility

Must be a rising 9th-12th grader. Participants must also be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident. Open to all different schools in the nation, even homeschool. Must demonstrate a strong interest in cybersecurity or computer science. Ideal for students with some prior coding or computer science experience.

Application Process

The entire application is an online application form with various components. The applications usually open in January to March. In the application, you must submit an essay, activity list or résumé, teacher recommendation, and proof of parental consent. Application are due in March to April.

Impact & Recognition

Participants dive deep into key cybersecurity concepts—such as network defense, intrusion detection, forensics, and Linux—through interactive lectures, labs, and an outreach capstone project. Offered by Dartmouth’s Institute for Security, Technology & Society (ISTS), the program is seen as prestigious and noteworthy by universities and future employers alike.
