General Information

This weeklong residential summer program introduces high school students to engineering through hands-on projects, lab tours, and faculty-led workshops at Cornell University. Participants explore multiple engineering disciplines while engaging in team-based problem solving and college preparation activities. The program provides an immersive experience on Cornell’s campus focused on STEM engagement and leadership development.

02

Eligibility

Students must be rising high school juniors or seniors who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and have a strong interest in science, technology, engineering, or math. The program especially encourages applicants from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM, including racial/ethnic minorities, first-generation college students, and those from underserved communities.

03

Application Process

Applications typically open in January and require transcripts, short essays, a recommendation letter, and demographic information. The deadline usually falls in March, and decisions are released by early May. There are no interviews or additional rounds after submission.

04

Impact & Recognition

CATALYST Academy is well-regarded for exposing underrepresented students to engineering early in their academic journey. Many alumni go on to pursue STEM majors and careers, often at top institutions, and gain confidence in applying to competitive universities. The program’s selectivity and Ivy League affiliation make it a standout experience on college applications.
